farm
The uncommonly flat and well-drained fields that mark the entrance to Strawberry Hill Farm are one of the property’s most prominent and eye-catching features. As farmers ourselves, when we purchased SHF, keeping the fields in agriculture was one of our top priorities.
The Percy family, who run one of Stowe’s four remaining cow dairies, grows hay on our pastures, providing their herd with nutritious fodder for the winter months. During the summer months the Percy’s also pasture a group of young heifers in the large field near the horse barn.
In the Spring of 2019, with the help of Vermont Land Link and the Intervale Center, we welcomed a new farmer, Megan Hartigan, to SHF. Megan, who has many years of experience as a flower grower, plowed up two acres of land along the driveway to start Sprig Flower Farm, a small cut flower operation, specializing in out of the ordinary Vermont blooms and bouquets.
